Results 

Paul J. Zaffuts represents and defends businesses in misconduct allegations, counsels them in issues of regulatory compliance, and conducts government-initiated and independent investigations into allegations involving discrimination, retaliation, regulatory noncompliance and other safety, technical, quality, wrongdoing and misconduct areas. 


Paul has significant experience defending claims of nuclear, environmental and occupational safety whistleblower retaliation and has extra litigation capacity through long-held and strategic teaming relationships with other experienced litigators in the energy sector.

Paul is an expert in security, access authorization, insider mitigation, fitness for duty, safety culture and compliance culture.




Paul designs and conducts compliance, safety culture and organizational assessments and training seminars and programs for managers and employees, all with capacity for quick turn around, corporate-wide workforce training.




 

Paul advises on matters of employee concerns programs (ECPs) and other concern resolution programs, evaluates these programs and trains program personnel in best practices, and conducts privileged and non-privileged investigations into complex employee concerns.

 

As principal of The Zaffuts Group, as former partner at an international law firm and as a former practicing engineer, Paul understands scientific and technical issues and engages easily with all levels of corporate management and facility personnel.




After graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS and MS in Aerospace Engineering, Paul worked as a systems engineer with Rockwell International (now part of Boeing) in Seal Beach, California.

 

At Rockwell International, Paul worked on mission operations for an experimental surveillance satellite program and on system design of a space-based element of the Strategic Defense Initiative. He received several awards for superior performance. 




 

At Cornell Law School, Paul earned membership on the Cornell Journal of International Law.

 

Paul began practicing law in Washington, DC, applying his technical background and experience as an associate in the Energy Practice of the international law firm, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

 

After fourteen years as a partner in the firm, Paul established The Zaffuts Group, wherein he provides expert counsel and services to businesses in a cost-effective and highly responsive framework.
